FIELD: digital signal processing. SUBSTANCE: receiver generates reference time signals for sound and image constituents, which are matched to playing respective decompressed constituent. Synchronization device outputs signal, which depends on difference of playback time marks for sound and image constituents. The said signal, which describes relative synchronization of sound and image, is compared to threshold value. If threshold is exceeded, suppression control signal is generated. Suppression circuit responds to control signal and switches sound playback, when synchronization between played sound and image signals is destroyed.
