FIELD: air purification. SUBSTANCE: the method is based on induction of an additional electric field in the precipitation section, whose strength equals the strength of the field between the main electrodes. The voltage of the precipitating electrodes of the main field is decreased stepwise from one precipitating electrode to the other, and the voltage of the precipitating electrodes of the additional field before the earthed electrodes of the main field is raised to the voltage of the nearest precipitating electrode of the main field. Induction of the additional field makes it possible to increase the distance between the flat corona-forming electrodes with fixed discharge points and the earthed electrodes of the additional field, decrease the corona discharge current and thus decrease the expulsion of undesirable impurities into purified air-ozone and nitrogen oxides. This, in its turn, makes it possible to reduce the speed of air flow without the excess of the critical concentration limit of ozone and nitrogen oxides in purified air. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of air purification. 6 dwg, 3 ex, 2 tbl
