ELECTRICAL AIR CLEANER Russian patent published in 2012 - IPC B03C3/08

Abstract RU 2453377 C1

FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to air and gas cleaning systems, namely, to electrical cleaners, and may be used for domestic purposes or in industrial environment to clean air from dust particles, smoke, aerosols, smells, bacteria, moldiness, mites and viruses. The electrical air cleaner is comprised of a body with holes for air flows, power supply unit and cleaning units stacked up along air flows directions. Each cleaning module consists of a corona electrode, collecting electrodes and repulsive electrodes with each corona electrode being represented as a rod or wire, collecting electrodes being represented as bands or bands thickened on the front edges and repulsive electrodes are located in the body forming channels for air movement, and repulsive electrode is placed in the channel to move air between the above collecting electrodes. The power supply unit is designed so that to ensure potentials difference between corona electrode and collecting electrode from 10 kV to 100 kV, and to ensure potentials difference between repulsive electrode and collecting electrode. The potentials difference values between repulsive and collecting electrodes may be defined from the dependence: P=pH, where P is a difference of potentials between repulsive electrode and collecting electrode, kV; p is a value taking values from 1 kV/cm to 20 kV/cm; H is a minimum distance between repulsive electrode and collecting electrode, cm. The first in air flow cleaning module has collecting electrodes made from cellular electricity- conducting plates or collecting electrodes are made using cellular electricity-conducting plates. The second in air flow cleaning module has collecting electrodes represented as bands or bands thickened on the front edges. The distance Y between corona electrode of the second in air flow cleaning module is defined based on the formula: Y=gD, where g is a value from 1.5 to 25; D is a distance between corona electrode of the second in the air flow cleaning module and collecting electrode of the same cleaning module, cm.

EFFECT: invention allows for increasing air cleaner operation time to the moment of collecting electrodes cleaning, improving air cleaning performance and quality and not exceeding maximum allowable ozone concentrations in clean air.
