FIELD: varnish-and-paint industry. SUBSTANCE: method of reducing viscosity of nitrocellulose solutions by dissolving nitrocellulose in solvent composition comprising butyl acetate, acetone, and ethanol is distinguished by using pyroxylin as nitrocellulose and supplementing composition by triethylamine at following contents of components, wt parts per 100 wt parts of pyroxylin: butyl acetate 262-265, acetone 196- 200, ethanol 65-68, triethylamine 1-2. EFFECT: simplified process and reduced cost due to simultaneous disposal of out-of-date pyroxylin. 5 tbl
