FIELD: foundry, production of castings with high mechanical properties from various metals and alloys. SUBSTANCE: method includes preparation of melt and injection of dispersive powder of aluminum oxide Al2O3 into it. Powder has particles of 100-200 μ size and is fed in the amount of 0.005-0.01% of mass of melt, it is clad by mixture of solid hydrocarbons, predominantly, by paraffin. Powder of aluminum oxide after reduction in size is treated in plasma generator by plasma jet with temperature 1300- 1400 C prior to cladding. Method provides for production of microcrystalline structure of metal of castings, for enhanced physical and mechanical properties of metal, especially, for its 2-3 times increased resistance to fretting, which is important for comminution balls made from cast iron and for about 2 times reduced cost of modification of molten metal as compared with known analogs. EFFECT: enhanced physical and mechanical properties of metal, its increased resistance to fretting and reduced cost of modification.
