FIELD: ferrous metallurgy; manufacture of high wear resistance castings from gray and chilled cast iron.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes treatment of melt with paraffin-clad mixture of ultra-dispersed iron oxide powder with aluminum and graphite powder; molybdenum powder in the amount of 0.4-0.5% of mass of melt at size of particles of 10-100 mcm is additionally introduced into melt.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of assimilation of modifying agent; enhanced economical efficiency of modification process; enhanced wear resistance of castings.
