FIELD: foundry, possibly casting gray and chilled cast iron, grinding bodies and parts subjected to shock and abrasive action such as pitchfork, rolling rolls, jaws of jaw crushers, armour lining of ball mills, of heavy automobiles. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of modifying melt with finely dispersed powder of alumina clad with paraffin in quantity no less than 0.008 mas.% of melt mass at adding magnesium alloy in quantity 0.3-0.5 mas.% of melt mass. It allows to increase shock resistance of castings at least by 4 times. EFFECT: enhanced shock resistance of castings. 1 tbl, 1 ex
