FIELD: metallurgy; ladle and mold modification; applicable in foundry for production of metals and alloys with high mechanical properties. SUBSTANCE: active substance is used in form of aluminium oxide clad with mixture of solid hydrocarbons of methane series, with paraffin. Powder of aluminum oxide has particles sizing 100-200 mcm and converted before cladding to alpha-phase and heated with plasma jet in plasma generator at temperature of 1300-1400 C. EFFECT: sharp increase of mechanical properties of metals and alloys such as, first of all, abrasion resistance and shock resistance with low consumption of modifier --0.005-0.01 wt.% of melt, and simple use.
