FIELD: methods of control of catalytic heterogeneous chemical reactions applicable in production of sulfuric acid by oxidation of sulfur dioxide. SUBSTANCE: method includes stabilization of gas temperature at inlet of the first layer of catalyst with help of regulator by bypassing of cold gas past remote heat exchanger. Setting for this regulator is corrected by main regulator by temperature measured by thermocouple installed at height of 1/3-1/4 from layer inlet. Setting is assigned more accurately by gas temperature at layer outlet. Measured additionally is rate of reaction of oxidation of SO2 into SO3 at inlet of the first catalyst layer by value of dynamic effect of catalytic reaction. EFFECT: higher sensitivity and speed of response of system controlling operation of catalytic reactor with variations of sulfur dioxide concentration and disturbance of temperature conditions, increased yield of product of catalytic reaction and reduced ecological pollution of atmosphere. 1 dwg
