SUBSTANCE: replacing step of device for transportation of passengers, such as escalator or travelator with set of steps, has preset outer profile with cavity and flat rear surface on which symbol and coating are installed. Outer profile of coating corresponds to outer profile of step. Cavity can be made on stair riser or on surface of step and stair riser. Coating is either transparent or semi-transparent. Method of modification of step comes to the following: part of step is cut out mechanically to form cavity with flat rear surface on which-symbol is installed and coating is fastened. Outer profile of coating corresponds to outer profile of step. Step can be modified by cutting out section of step to form window which is then returned to place with flat rear plate on which symbol is installed and coating is secured.
