FIELD: transport engineering. SUBSTANCE: description of invention contains several design versions of escalator. Escalator of each version has set of steps connected to form endless row for moving along closed trajectory inside carrying frame installed between lower and upper floors. Escalator is provided with device for folding riser connected to each step in flat position at lower surface of step. Design versions differ in make and arrangement of guide devices and riser folding devices. EFFECT: decreased height of drive compartment from side of return run of escalator. 11 cl, 29 dwg
