FIELD: manufacture of glass monoliths. SUBSTANCE: device for manufacture of glass monolith has upper mold including cylindrical parts of different sizes, lower mold including first lower cylindrical part inclined towards center at definite angle and second lower cylindrical part having hole for relieving vacuum, cylindrical outer mold for molding glass tube and central support in form of rod. After connection of lower mold, outer mold and central support, outer mold is filled with sol. Then, immiscible liquid is added above sol and upper mold is fitted on outer mold. After gelling of sol in outer mold, upper mold is removed, cover is opened to relieve vacuum and central support is removed, then gel is dried within preset period of time, after which outer mold is removed gel is subjected to further drying.
