FIELD: glassmaking. SUBSTANCE: according to proposed method, first sol is prepared by mixing 100 wt.pts of colloidal silica powder with 100-300 wt. pts of deionized water. The first sol is then gelated, dried, transformed into powder, and subjected to heat treatment. Second sol is prepared by mixing heat-treated first sol with 100-200 wt.pts of deionized water and 20-50 wt.pts of untreated initial colloidal silica powder. The second sol is then gelated, dried, and caked.
