FIELD: chemical industry, more particularly preparation of cathodes for chemical current sources, catalysts, and solid lubricants. SUBSTANCE: 30 g of graphite powder are placed into nickel reactor pressurized, heated to 25-100 C, gaseous chlorine trifluoride and hydrogen fluoride are fed maintained form 3 hours to 48 hours. fluorinated graphite compound with chlorine trifluoride has formula: CxF•yClF3•zHF wherein x is 1.9-2.2; y is 0.07-0.09; z is 0.05-0.0. Ash content is 0.05%. Compound is more thermally resistant explosion-and fire-proof than compounds with high ClF3 and HF content. Process is ecological, reduced consumption of reagents per unit of weight of product and higher yield thereof. EFFECT: more efficient preparation method. 2 ex
