FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to inorganic chemistry and can be used in the chemical industry, electronics and medicine. Graphite-containing material is processed in-series gas and liquid phases of anhydrous hydrogen fluoride, then treated with hydrogen-containing material freeze on iodine heptafluoride. Obtained ternary mixture is thawed to a temperature of production rooms, kept at the equilibrium vapor pressure of iodine heptafluoride and hydrogen fluoride of the liquid phase. Unreacted fluoroxidizer and remaining reaction products are trapped. Then obtained intercalated compound of fluorinated graphite (ICFG) is decomposed at 400-600 °C in closed volume to produce thermally expanded fluorinated graphite. Gaseous decomposition products is trapped. Treatment of graphite-containing material and thermal decomposition of ICFG is carried out in the same reaction vessel. Unreacted fluoroxidizer and reaction products are reused in the production cycle of producing thermally expanded fluorinated graphite.
EFFECT: technical result is the use of raw material of various graphite grades, saving iodine heptafluoride; low-waste; environmentally safe industrial technology; ratio of ICFG volume increase within the range of 350-450.
