FIELD: measurement technology. SUBSTANCE: invention specifically refers to test of mechanical characteristics of composite materials by way of study of electromagnetic or acoustic emission with crack formation and failure. In correspondence with invention sample is loaded and unloaded cyclically with constant rate of 103-105 Pa/s. Number of pulses of electromagnetic emission and amplitudes are recorded in the course of first loading- unloading cycle. Time of growth of front of these pulses is fixed and then sample is loaded to complete destruction. Time of growth of front of pulse created by main destruction crack is recorded. Kinetic constants of strength and durability of material are found by measured parameters. Full number of cycles which sample can endure up to its failure, i.e its durability is determined with due account of these constants.
