FIELD: apparatuses for heat treatment of lumpy, pelletized or briquetted material before loading it to rotary furnace. SUBSTANCE: shaft heat exchanger includes vertical shaft, louvre type walls at side of taking off heat transfer agent, solid walls, cavities for supplying heat transfer agent arranged in level higher than angle of rest of material and cavities for discharging heat transfer agent. Shaft heat exchanger also includes central cavity for discharging heat transfer agent restricted by two louvre type walls. Cavities for supplying heat transfer agent are arranged in floors of heat exchanger in staggered fashion. Shaft heat exchanger may include two branches, trapezoidal housing, central cavity for discharging heat transfer agent with cross section in the form of "herring bone", cavities for supplying heat transfer agent and(or) device for discharging it provided with burners. EFFECT: reduced energy consumption at heat treatment of material due to increased uniformness of heat treatment along width of layer, lowered size of heat exchanger, simplified design of discharging device. 5 cl, 2 dwg
