FIELD: metallurgy industry.

SUBSTANCE: chemical heat threatment method of lump materials in counterflow shaft furnace involves supply of heat carrier to burning zone by means of burners installed in the burning zone in a circumferential direction of the furnace and exhaust of flue gases through flues mounted above the burning zone. In order to supply heat carrier and exhaust flue gases, there simultaneously brought into operation is a group of burners located in adjacent furnace compartments in number not more than the half of their total number and the flues corresponding to them and mounted in furnace compartments opposite to burners below stock level of lump materials. Duration of full burner switching cycle is set so that 5-8 cycles can be performed while material is in the burning zone.

EFFECT: improving chemical heat treatment quality of lump materials.
