FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: invention proposes to use keratinocyte growth factor that stimulates proliferation, growth and differentiation of different epithelial tissue cells that are distinct from keratinocytes. Polypeptide keratinocyte growth factor can be used as therapeutic agent and as the component of different pharmaceutical compositions designated for specific treatment of sick patients and with morbid states concerning to liver, lungs, gastroenteric tract and extraembryonal skin structures. Invention proposes the developed method of stimulation of formation of nonkeratinocyte epithelial cells by contact of these cells with effective amount of keratinocyte growth factor. Nonkeratinocyte cells are taken among the following group: sebocytes, hair follicle cells, hepatocytes, pneumocytes of type II, mucin-producing beaker-like cells and other epithelial cells and their precursors detected in skin, lungs, liver and gastroenteric tract.
