FIELD: electrodeposition. SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in mechanical engineering, ship-building and automotive industry for deposition of hard and thick chrome coats. Proposed electrolyte contains, mole/g: chrome sulfate 0.4-0.6; sodium sulfate 0.2-0.8; aluminum sulfate 0.08-0.20, compound carrying formiate ions in terms of formiate ions 0.03-2.6, carbonic acid amine 0.15-2.1. Molar proportion of compound carrying formiate ions in terms of formiate ions to carbonic acid amine amounts to 1.0:(0.8-5.0). EFFECT: proposed electrolyte makes it feasible to win good quality chrome coat with thickness up to 200.0 μ, hardness of 700-1200 kg/sq.mm and current output of 25-35%.
