FIELD: direct- action overtemperature protection of nuclear reactors, temperature control of chemical, process, and power equipment. SUBSTANCE: device that has liquid-filled bellows coupled with tripping mechanism for dropping absorber into reactor core is provided, in addition, with container whose interior is filled with temperature-sensing material; container and bellows inner spaces communicate through liquid-filled pipe. Chosen as temperature-sensing material is that whose melting point corresponds to operating temperature of device; material volume increases in melting. Container accommodates capillary-porous matrix nonwettable with temperature-sensing material melting at device operating temperature; temperature-sensing material resides initially at least partially in matrix pores. Coolant serves as liquid and heat-sensing material. EFFECT: improved in-service safety of nuclear power plants. 4 dwg
