FIELD: gas analysis, testing of substances. SUBSTANCE: invention lies in pumping of taken sample of analyzed gas through indicating fluid in which capacity aqueous solution of potassium permanganate is used, in its analysis by photocolorimetric process based on decolouration of aqueous solution of potassium permanganate when it interacts with unsaturated hydrocarbons, in measurement of absolute change of optical density of solution and in computation of content of unsaturated hydrocarbons in analyzed gas by given formula. EFFECT: substantially increased sensitivity of determination of unsaturated hydrocarbons, possibility of their detection within wide range of concentrations both while analyzing air atmosphere in production areas and while monitoring technological operations in chemical industry.
