FIELD: construction industry. SUBSTANCE: glass plates are subjected to thermal hardening to increase their tensile strength. Then hardened glass plates are sent for subsequent thermal treatment to diminish risk of their spontaneous destruction. Glass plates are subjected to hardening one more time as minimum and to repeat thermal treatment. Second thermal treatment is conducted at temperature higher than it is customary. EFFECT: increased tensile and flexural strength and diminished susceptibility to spontaneous destruction. 16 cl, 1 dwg
