FIELD: medicine, steroids. SUBSTANCE: invention describes relatively low serum progesterone levels, from 1 to 6 ng/ml, that can be used for prophylaxis of development of endometrium cancer. Vaginal delivery of progesterone using tampon made of cross-linked polycarboxylic polymer provides this low level of progesterone in serum and also provides the complete secretory transformation of endometrium that indicates the effectiveness of progesterone. These low levels of serum progesterone will decrease risk of development of breast cancer in women that are subjected for substitution therapy and to minimize possibility of manifestation of other undesirable adverse effects associated with progesterone.
