FIELD: dehydrogenation catalysts. SUBSTANCE: invention provides catalyst for dehydrogenation of C2-C5-hydrocarbons, which contains aluminum and chromium oxides, compound of modifying metal, those of alkali and/or alkali-earth metals and, additionally, silicon and/or boron compounds. Modifying agent is at least one compound from the group including: zirconium, titanium, iron, gallium, cobalt, molybdenum, manganese, and tin. Catalyst is formed when aluminum oxide with 0.3- 1.5 mol % water is thermally treated with compounds of above-listed elements and is composed of, wt % (on conversion to oxide): chromium oxide 12-23, compound of modifying metal 0.1-1.5, silicon and/or boron compound 0.1-10.0, alkali and/or alkali-earth metal compound 0.5-3.5, aluminum oxide - the balance. Catalyst is characterized by specific surface 50-150 sq.m/g, pore volume 0.15-0.4 cu.cm/g, and particle size 40-200 mcm. Method of catalyst preparation is also provided.
