FIELD: video equipment. SUBSTANCE: production of color lines for preventing storage of video signals involves alteration in color synchronization signal burst, which belongs to each active video line, so that each next recording of video signal distorts precise color reproduction. This is visible as unwanted stripes or color stripes caused by improper color reproduction. Production of color stripes is prevented by detection of video lines including color stripes using preliminary experiment or by-line check. Then some or all lines that have altered color synchronization signal burst are changed so that complete video signal can be reproduced. This alteration may be achieved by several methods, including phase shift of color stripe bursts in order to provide correct phase, replacement of some color stripe bursts or some specific bursts of color stripes in order to prevent their influence, as well as mixing color stripe bursts to color synchronization burst signals with proper phase in order to prevent most or all phase distortions. EFFECT: increased functional capabilities. 74 cl, 9 dwg
