FIELD: TV equipment. SUBSTANCE: color carrier instability may be caused by linear scrambling system of video signal, which color signal is not completely separated from brightness signal with residual color signal. Respective method for minimization of such instability involves time or phase-pulse shift of color signal or brightness signal in order to produce, respectively, scrambled color signal, which has stable color saturation, and scrambled brightness signal, which has non-stable residual color signal, clipping scrambled brightness signal at given threshold in order to limit transmission of non-stable residual color signal in brightness signal, but allowing transmission of signals with levels, which are greater than threshold value in order to produce scrambled brightness signal with minimal non-stable residual color signal. Then, method involves adding scrambled color signal, which has stable color saturation, to scrambled brightness signal with non-stable residual color signal, in order to produce linearly scrambled video signal with minimized instability of color carrier. Respective device which implements said method has clipping unit, which has step threshold distortion gate and is located in brightness channel, time or phase-pulse shift circuit, which is sensitive to color signal clipping circuit for scrambling brightness signal, and adder for combination of said brightness signal to scrambled color signal. Clipping unit may be located in brightness signal either before or after linear scrambling system. EFFECT: removal of color carrier, which leaks into brightness signal channel. 24 cl, 12 dwg
