FIELD: high-voltage engineering; lightning protective gear. SUBSTANCE: device has PVC insulating holder one of whose ends is screwed to grounded metal case which is clamped to supporting structure of line being protected. PVC holder has longitudinal slits filled with different-size destructible wire lengths. Wire lengths are screwed to insulating holder on one end to form spark gaps of different length to ensure sequential flash-over of mentioned spark gaps. Other ends of wire lengths are screwed to metal ring and form, together with additional metal rings and external spark gap, multisection spark gap between wires and current-carrying conductor of line being protected. EFFECT: improved reliability and simplified design of lightning protective device. 2 dwg
