FIELD: working of active materials. SUBSTANCE: cut-off head includes stationary body, spindle head having mechanism for securing tool and mounted on tail spindle with possibility of motion between cutting zone and position for changing tool, follower for controlling mechanism for securing tool mounted in tool changing position and unit for rotating spindle. Tail spindle and unit for rotating spindle are in the form of coaxially arranged double-stage telescopic shafts whose outer stages are mounted with possibility of separate rotation and inner stages - with possibility of simultaneous motion and separate rotation. Outer stage of telescopic shaft of tail spindle is mounted in stationary housing, one end of its inner stage is engaged with lead nut arranged coaxially relative to outer stage and fixed to it. Opposite end of inner stage is joined with spindle head; inner stage is provided with lengthwise key groove passing to semicircular groove. Both said grooves engage with key fixed to stationary housing. Outer step of telescopic shaft of spindle rotation unit is placed in outer stage of telescopic shaft of tail spindle; its inner step is kinematically joined with spindle.
