FIELD: solid fuels. SUBSTANCE: method consisting in drying carbon-containing raw material, mixing it with lignosulfonate-containing binder, and compaction is distinguished by that the latter operation is carried out at pressure 50-55 MPa and subsequent heat treatment is conducted at 320-340 C for 14-20 min, while above-mentioned binder is used in amounts no greater than 5-7% based on the weight of raw material and contains 1:1 mixture of lignosulfonate with molasses. Resulting briquettes have good characteristics with regard to their properties such as ash content, calorific power, and sulfur level, which enables utilization of briquettes for small boiler installation and domestic stoves. EFFECT: improved quality of produce and increased economical efficiency of process owing to avoided such laborious operations as live steam treatment or warming of viscous binder. 2 tbl
