FIELD: cosmic engineering; aircraft industry. SUBSTANCE: thermal accumulator has body, thermoaccumulating element, gas inlet and outlet branch pipes, thermal insulation, and electric heater with current leads. Thermoaccumulating element is made as a monoblock in the form of cylinder on which ends covers with branch pipes are countersunk. Covers are joined to cylinder over tapered surfaces through end-face seals, thus forming collectors for gas inlet and outlet. Flat electric heater and channels or circular slit for gas passage are positioned along longitudinal axis of cylinder. Positioning axis of channels or circular slit divides mass of thermoaccumulating element into two equal parts. Porous insert or set of poorly streamlined bodies are arranged in channels or in circular slit. All assemblies of thermal accumulator are covered with gas-tight material. Construction of thermal accumulator is of reduced mass and sizes. EFFECT: higher efficiency. 3 cl, 1 dwg
