FIELD: airports and custom control checkpoints. SUBSTANCE: method involves emitting pulse neutron flow, which is produced by beam of accelerated hydrogen ions from target, towards monitored object, and measurement of temporal and power spectra of secondary neutron and gamma radiation from monitored object. Method for detection of fissionable substances involves measurement of outputs of neutron and gamma radiation within pulses, and measurement of their temporal distribution between pulses. method for detection of explosives involves measurement, within pulses, of power spectrum of instantaneous gamma radiation produced by inelastic collision of fast neutrons with nuclei of elements characteristic for explosives, i.e. nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen; and measurement, between pulses in period of neutron cooling, of integral and power characteristics of gamma radiation produced by capture of slow and thermal neutrons by nitrogen nuclei. Then, method involves measurement of gamma radiation power spectra of short-term radio nuclides produced by collision of neutrons to nuclei of said characteristic elements. EFFECT: possibility of simultaneous detection of fissionable and explosive substances, increased sensitivity to characteristic elements of fissionable and explosive substances, increased speed of detection. 1 dwg
