FIELD: prospecting for oil and gas deposits. SUBSTANCE: hydrocarbon substance is excited by external vibration field and spectrum of signal of own response of field is recorded by group of two three-component geophones which sensitivity axes of analogous components are mutually parallel. Geophones are positioned on measurement base multiple of length of medium wave of response. Values of autocorrelation functions of signal of response are calculated per each component. Hypocenter of field is identified as point of crossing of two radii-vectors in space whose directing cosines are calculated as square root of relation of value of autocorrelation function in zero along corresponding coordinate to sum of their values in zero for given geophone. EFFECT: expanded functional capabilities and increased precision of process. 4 dwg
