FIELD: seismology. SUBSTANCE: invention is meant for use in national systems monitoring and processing data of geophysical measurement to predict earthquakes. Super-low-frequency waves from seismic center of future earthquake will propagate in lithosphere 5-7 hours before earthquake which results in substantial change of spectral characteristics of seismic background in any point of ground surface. Uninterrupted recording of seismic background A(t) is conducted by geophysical monitoring stations to detect and register this physical phenomenon. Fourier spectrum F(jω) of continuously recorded function of seismic background is computed. Autocorrelation functions B(τ) of signals of retrievals are computed and correlation interval τ is found, then start of change of parameter τ. is recorded. Period To of parameter τ and values of zero functions B1(0) and B2(0) are computed for each point and their values are used to form opinion on hypocenter of seismic focus, magnitude and moment of strike.
