FIELD: hydraulic engineering. SUBSTANCE: method for nondestructive engineering and seismic inspections of the body and base of dam for their physical condition involves measuring microvibrations of entity caused by natural and industrial microseismic background including polymonochromatic vibration radiation of hydropower units or radiation of vibration source. For the purpose, use is made of group of sequentially displaced three-component vibration transducers while recording microvibrations by means of similar three-component vibration transducers at two reference points; at one point characteristics of the body of dam are measured and at other point records are made of polymonochromatic vibration radiation of power units operating at hydroelectric power station or radiation of controlled source of vibrations. In this way, records made at first point provide for determining dynamic characteristics of dam including frequency and waveform of inherent vibrations, damping decrements, transient characteristics, dynamic strains and stresses at measuring points; records made at second reference point make it possible to determine rate of propagation of elastic waves, damping of waves in the base and body of dam, dynamic moduli of elasticity and shear, and to obtain set of dynamic and elastic characteristics illustrating physical condition of the base and body of hydraulic structure dam. EFFECT: enlarged range of characteristics determined. 7 dwg
