FIELD: performing continuous chemical processes; polymerization reactors for production of thermoplastic high-molecular compounds for optical purposes. SUBSTANCE: polymerization reactor includes two chambers located one above other and interconnected by means of central branch pipe; one chamber is made in form of vertical cylindrical housing with bottom and discharge branch pipe and jacket with pipe union for inlet and outlet of heat-transfer agent and reagent supply branch pipe. Lower chamber has pear-shaped form; narrow portion of this chamber has partition with holes for mixer. Outlet pipe union if fitted above this partition and pipe union for viscosity sensor is fitted below it. Mixer passes though all chambers; upper portion of mixer in upper chamber is made in form of pipe inside which axle of drive is arranged for setting the mixer in motion. Parts of mixer located in upper and lower chambers are provided with blades for mixing; part of mixer located in central branch pipe and narrow portion of lower chamber is made in form of screw feeder. Mixer is rigidly centered be means of bearing. Reactor may be made in form of modules with more than two chambers. EFFECT: enhanced reliability. 2 cl, 1 dwg
