FIELD: mechanical engineering; transmission of high power torque from one shaft to the other. SUBSTANCE: friction clutch is designed for use in controlled, safety and overrunning clutches. Friction clutch has driving and driven shafts, drum rigidly mounted on driven shaft shifter with disk coaxially mounted on driven shaft. Disk is mechanically coupled with shifter for engagement with drum when shifter is moved, and with driving shaft for transmitting its rotation. Clutch has wedges and cone fixed in axial direction coaxially with drum. Surfaces inclined to axis and engaging with wedges are on shifter, cone and disk. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of clutch at simplified design. 8 dwg
