TERMINAL SHIP Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: shipbuilding; water transport; timber carriers. SUBSTANCE: ship has hull with cargo holds divided by transverse bulk-heads. Superstructure has deck ceiling, side, intermediate and end walls which are mounted over perimeter of apertures of holds forming additional hold space. Cargo handling device in form of double- girder travelling cranes are mounted in superstructure. Guide of travelling cranes are mounted on side walls of superstructure along ship's CL. Side walls are provided with ports; intermediate walls are load- bearing walls. Ship has-flat-bottomed hull having length of 130 to 150 m, width of 25 to 35 m and full-load draft of 0.4 to 1.2 m. Ship is provided with at least two pairs of side extensible centerboards with drives for extension and hoisting of these centerboards. Propulsion and steering columns are mounted in vertical trunks in aft and fore sections for vertical motion and turning about vertical axis. Hull may be provided with double bottom and double sides with ballast systems arranged in space between them. Superstructure ceiling has hatch over entire length; this hatch is provided with sliding closure for loading long-cut articles.
