FIELD: well drilling and operation. SUBSTANCE: invention covers method and device for positioning and accurate orientation of well servicing equipment inside casing string having indexing sleeve to provide for servicing operations in well. Well logging device including ultrasonic scanning system is introduce into well casing string and, in addition to typical well surveying, it ensures accurate measurement of internal geometry of indexing sleeves and forms acoustic image definitely identifying internal features such as landing profile and orientation of orienting recess with respect to ground coordinate system such as vertical, horizontal and magnetic north. The method also provides for determination and detection of characteristics of casing string defects such as internal and external corrosion and changes in thickness of casing string walls, and also allows arrangement of marking devices in the form of magnetic and radioactive markers. Ultrasonic logging device forms diagram of well logging definitely identifying location and orientation of each indexing sleeve and allows devising and control of subsequent operations in well such as drilling of side branches. The invention provides for higher efficiency of drilling of side branches from main wellbore due to exclusion of errors in azimuth direction of spudding of additional side branches.
