FIELD: mechanical engineering; stationary and mobile power plants with heat engines. SUBSTANCE: invention provides description of method and two versions of heating system of internal combustion engine containing heating unit with heat accumulator charge by heat of exhaust gases, gas channel, heat carrier channel and channel over-lapping devices. According to one design version, cooling liquid is used as heat carrier, and according to other design version, air is used for this purpose. Heating unit is built into exhaust gas outlet channel and into heat carrier circulation circuit. Liquid heat carrier is evacuated from heating unit heat carrier channel after stopping the engine by boiling out with discharge of steam into compensation tank of liquid cooling system. If air is used as heat carrier, circulation of air in gas and/or air channel of heating unit, with engine shut down, is provided. For prestarting heating of engine, heated air is delivered into space of oil sump of engine with liquid or air cooling systems. Main operating conditions of heating system are prestarting heating of cold engine and vehicle interior and, with engine operating, charging of heat accumulator by heat of exhaust gases and additional heating of heat carrier for heating the interior. Provision is made for charging of heat accumulator from power source at long parking of vehicle in cold seasons. EFFECT: enlarged operating capabilities. 7 cl, 4 dwg
