SUBSTANCE: reception of phased TV signal involves converting audio and video sectors in data region of each synchronization unit into first and second regions on track. First region stores normal data, while second region stores trick data. Region, which corresponds to transmission rate of 5.6 Mbps is used for trick data, when ATV signal is received. Also, no special region is required for error-correction encoding. Since trick mode works at even-factor rates, which are greater than normal rates by several factors, significant number of rates is available for this mode.
