SUBSTANCE: device has first, second, third and fourth automatic detectors 1, 2, 3, and 4, first, second, and third NOT gates 5, 6, 7, first, second and third AND gates 8, 9, 10, electronic commutator 11, first, second, third and fourth optical couplers 12, 13, 14, and 15, first and second by-pass optical switches 16, 17, first, second, third and fourth receiving optoelectronic units 18, 19, 20 and 21. When B unit 22 fails, signal transmission is provided by by-passing it from A unit to C unit and back using fiber-optical communication lines 24.1, 24.2, 24.3, 24.4 due to switch-off of main B unit 22 by first and second by-pass optical switches 16 and 17. Then, B unit 22 is locked and redundant B unit 23 is used instead. EFFECT: increased structural reliability of fiber-optical communication network, when intermediate line unit fails. 3 dwg
