FIELD: microbiological industry, biotechnology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of biological insecticides for agriculture based on the novel strain of nuclear polyhedrosis virus which is pathogenic for cabbage moth larvae. Strain KS-3-86 is obtained as result of selection of natural strain variants after 8 passages in cabbage moth caterpillars infected by oral and intralymph routes. Strain KS-3-86 is deposited in The State collection of viruses of Virology Institute at number GVK N 2155. This strain ensures to obtain viral insecticide preparation with activity 100-fold above of that obtained on the base of the known strain of nuclear polyhedrosis virus S-13-p and Pd-1-5. EFFECT: strain indicated above, increased activity of preparation. 1 tbl, 1 dwg, 4 ex
