METHOD AND ENDOPROSTHESIS FOR TREATING LARYNX MEMBRANES Russian patent published in 2000 - IPC

FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves applying prosthesis having separating part and part for fixing vocal ligament length. Access for setting endoprosthesis is formed by means of thyrotomy. Thyrotomy involves making incision in neck skin followed by opening thyroid cartilage angle and cutting the thyroid cartilage along the median line in the projection of vocal ligaments. Cut length is greater than membrane thickness by 3.0-4.4 mm. Then endoprosthesis is set. First, the separating plate is placed between the vocal ligaments in the larynx lumen so that it overpasses each edge of the cut membrane by 1.0-1.6 mm. The size of zone covered by the separating plate in larynx lumen cross-section in the area of the rima glottidis is equal to 0.5-0.7 of vocal ligaments length beginning from the place the anterior commissure is attached to the thyroid cartilage. The fixing plate of the endoprosthesis is placed on the outer surface of the thyroid cartilage angle so that each lateral endoprosthesis protrusion is engaged with one of wings of the thyroid cartilage on one side and larynx fascia on the other side. Contact zone size of every lateral endoprosthesis protrusion with the mentioned larynx structures is equal to 0.5-0.9 of the zone covered by the separating plate in larynx lumen cross-section in the area of the rima glottidis.
