FIELD: assembly equipment; tyre industry. SUBSTANCE: drive for tyre building machine includes drive shaft for attachment of assembly drum which is mounted in bearings. Mounted inside drive shaft is motion screw with drive sprocket secured on its end face; this sprocket is kinematically linked with electric motor. Rigidly secured on drive shaft in hub and two braking couplings; one of them is secured on hub. Drive is provided with air supply manifold for delivery of air to assembly drum and braking coupling. Manifold is mounted between hub and bed to which it is rigidly connected. Ferrule rigidly secured on motion screw together with drive sprocket is periodically engageable with braking coupling mounted on hub. Secured on free end of air supply manifold is cylindrical sleeve. Second braking coupling is mounted on hub for periodic engagement with sleeve. EFFECT: simplified construction; improved operational characteristics. 2 cl, 3 dwg
