FIELD: equipment used in forestry. SUBSTANCE: felling mechanism has plate mounted on upper ends of withdrawable parts of telescopic poles. Poles are rigidly fixed on frame of self-propelled chassis for changing height of positioning of plate by means of drive, for instance hydraulic cylinder. Outer beam is mounted on guard by means of pivot joint having two degrees of freedom so as to be turned in horizontal and vertical planes. Felling mechanism drive is pivotally secured with its one end to plate or cabin guard, and with its other end is pivotally coupled to outer beam. Such construction allows felling moment to be changed and tree felling direction to be regulated, which is of special importance for trees with substantially increased volume of crowns or trees inclined to side opposite to felling direction.
