FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: grinding wheel is used for grinding metals and alloys. Recesses in the form of isosceles trapezium are made on end faces of grinding wheel for process medium supply. Larger base of trapezium is positioned in radial direction on side of wheel fitting hole and in cross-section, on side of wheel end face. Recesses on one end face are shifted with respect to recesses located on other end face and arranged at nonuniform angular spacing which increases from ϕmin to ϕmax at central angle variation from 0 to 180 deg and from 180 to 360. Every recess on one of wheel end faces is positioned in symmetry with two adjacent recesses made on opposite end face of wheel. Recommendations are given for selection of length and depth of recesses. The construction makes it possible to reduce thermal stress, to obtain uniform lubricating effect and to preclude occurrence of self-oscillations in process of machining.
