FIELD: mechanical engineering; packing. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to packing of articles with use of prestretching device of film designed for planetary wrapping. Plastic film is pulled off feed roll and is applied to article to be wrapped owing to relation of article and roll. Device has brake roller in contact with feed roll, stretching roller in contact with film and drive transfer device connected to rollers so that peripheral velocity of stretching roller in direction of film movement exceeds peripheral velocity of brake roller in this direction. Feed roll is installed for rotation on crossmembers installed for sliding. Contact pressure between brake roller and feed roll caused by tension of film is increased by loading springs to provided slipping between feed roll and brake roller before tension of wound off film web reaches the value at which film contracts and breaks. EFFECT: provision of stable operation of device with damping of film without overstretching and breaking. 8 cl, 2 dwg
