FIELD: machine engineering, namely joint assembly of coaxial shafts of power transmissions, possibly reversing transmissions of heavy load machines. SUBSTANCE: joint assembly includes coupling with locking unit, turned one to another ends of shafts with coaxially arranged recesses and ball placed in said recesses. Coupling has two flanged semicouplings. There are centering recesses on ends of semicouplings mounted on shafts with gap between their ends. Disc with central opening embracing ball is placed in gap. Disc has peripheral openings into which dogs are introduced. Said dogs engages with U-shaped grooves on flanges of semicouplings. Generatrices of grooves have convex portions. Locking unit may be made of pins in each semicoupling. In such case half of cross section of pins passes through semicircular turnings of shafts. Relation of gap between ends of semicouplings and disc thickness may be equal to (1.6-2.0): 1. Convex portions of generatrices of grooves preferably are toroidal ones.
