FIELD: preconcentration of materials in ore preparation conversion of mineral materials of various types, preferably, gold-containing quartz ores. SUBSTANCE: method includes exposure of material portion to radiation with the first flux of gamma radiation with two characteristics energies of 1173 and 1332 keV, and also with the second flux of soft gamma radiation with maximum energy within 60-90 keV. Simultaneously registered are total intensity of the first and second fluxes of gamma radiation passed through material. Spectrum of characteristic fluorescent X-ray radiation from material surface and intensity of dispersed gamma radiation are recorded. Parameter of absorption of gamma radiation in material of portion and its bulk density, characteristics of spatial nonuniformity of measured characteristics and parameters are determined. Invention description covers expression for separation criterion taking into account of measured characteristics. EFFECT: higher accuracy of separation, mainly, gold-containing quartz ores due to consideration of ore lithology, use of more efficient separation criterion and corresponding equipment and techniques of radiation concentration. 4 cl, 1 dwg
